Lucky The Cat - Age 14 approximately

I will admit, that after having been with my partner for over ten years now, it is hard to find myself laughing at few if any of his jokes these days; I'm well aware that the feeling is mutual...
However, yesterday, my partner made me laugh with a spontaneous and sincere comment that he made to our 14 year old cat named Lucky...

We had been frantically trying to clean up our hovel of an abode (to be fair its been busy on the farm) as we had some distinguished guests coming to take a look around (some rugged farmers from the area and good friends of my partners father). During the mad clean up which saw vacuum cleaners being hurtled around and enough spray-and-wipe residue in the air to wipe out civilisation through an accidental chemical genocide, we stopped briefly for a breather and to marvel at our efforts. We were both facing each other from the kitchen to the dining room, and the focal point in between was Lucky the Cat squatting in a geriatric kind of a stance.

Background info: Lucky is at least 14 years old (but her true age may never be truly known). I was tricked by a genuine Gypsy woman who used to rent a stone cottage to me in Tallebudgera Valley on the Gold Coast (Australia) into adopting Lucky (already named) by a partially blind woman who was becoming increasingly more blind and who had just had a baby and was now a solo mum who couldn't look after a black cat anymore...Nina the gypsy asked me to drive her to this woman's house as a favour, I did, and then once there she introduced me to Lucky and we somehow brought her home with us and then suddenly I had a second cat to feed. I have had Lucky for just a little over 6 months and ten years, and only one month longer than my partner, who was also a stray looking for a place to belong.

Focusing in on Lucky the cat, and back to the story...
We were looking at Lucky from two different angles but saw the same old decrepit worn out little black cat who is now going a bit bald around the "back-end".

Note: The "back-end" is the term my partner and I use to describe the bottom or arse end of anyone or thing.

So here is poor little Lucky being stared at by two middle-aged giants, and trying to remain as dignified as she can.
I quickly come to Lucky's defence as I could  read what my partner was thinking and said: "I put Lucky's collar back on, it makes her look a little bit better". Lucky's pink collar does indeed make her look just a little bit more like a cat; a skinny, shrinking balding cat, but at least better than without the collar when you can see visitors wondering what species of bat she is. Most of the time however, because of her age, we let her have "nude" time without the restraints of this said pink collar. Also for the record Lucky is also known as "The Pink Collared One".

My partner never takes his eyes off Lucky, he sighs and says quite sincerely..."Lucky, I think you need some pants".

Lucky who turns to my partner at the sound of this offensive comment - shoots him a look that could kill.

My partner then looks straight at me with a look that suggests - Well I'm right aren't I? and then looks back at Lucky who is obviously still seething from the suggestion and turns to put her balding "back-end" in the direction of our faces and trots off to a corner to be alone and grudgeful. My partner and I look at each other and then I just crack up. We both laugh and then we get back to the cleaning, but I can not get the image of Lucky wearing pants around in an attempt to hide her balding from the judgements of others out of my head. Poor Lucky might just need some pants.

I guess you had to be there.

I am more than amused!

That is funny, I like cats with attitude.Especially when they respond so snootily to statements like justins.
