DeAtH WiSh mUcH...oH MuCh tOo mUcH!

I ran off the gravel road, on to an angle that defied gravity and probably should have flipped.
Not one of my proudest moments, or one of my better car parks. Going about my daily duties two days ago - on the way to Dannevirke with Roger the Cat (who had somehow got a fish bone stuck in his throat) to see the local vet (one hour away) and I don't know how (I swear to God I was going ridiculously slow) and my car just drove straight over the edge. No warning, no time to brake...just straight over the side. Just like that.
I remember thinking 'there's a blind corner coming up', 'go nice and slow', 'could be a logging truck', and perhaps I was being too over cautious but I guess I got a wee bit too close to the edge and then with the gravel got a slide happening and then...your on a 90 degree angle and praying that you aren't going to keep going.
I had a mobile, and coverage (thank the Greater Universe) and I was able to ring my father-in-law (who was just heading out the door) who came and rescued our Subaru Outback from a Roley-poly situation down into a sheep paddock.
To cut a long story short...Justin did kill me when he got home.
I am a lot more wary on the metal roads (as if I wasn't petrified enough after coming face-to-face with a massive logging truck), and on a brighter note - yesterday I arrived at work unscathed from my safe drive in to town and I assisted with my first ever kiwi born baby. A beautiful baby boy, birthed with the Mother standing - which happens to be my most favourite birth position of all time.
I really enjoy being a Midwife. It is a pleasure to go to work - even if you do nearly run off the road every time just to get there. It makes all that worth it. If you are not a Midwife you won't understand.
